Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, often referred to professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her debut EP Pho on October 21, 2016 was released via Dreamville Records. She began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on in May 7th, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her first songs online in the year 2012. She released five singles in 2013 and Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, including her self-released single Bound. In 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album in the track "Sweat It Out" on 21st July. Later that year her music was circulating around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna. The day after Christmas, she announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. She dropped Pho, her debut album on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song. She also performed at the opening of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On July 16, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video which debuted on the 5th of September. On November 9 she released two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 she then released two more singles: the No One as well as Pedigree. She then appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track called Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was made available for the song. It has already received more than three million viewers on YouTube in its first week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
